Bow & Arrow - Air Guitar 2019
Bow & Arrow is a producer located in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The qualities of the soils and the climate have led many winemakers to explore the “Burgundian” qualities of the region. Scott Frank, the winemaker at Bow & Arrow has decided to explore a more humble path that pays homage to the working-class wines of the Loire Valley.
Loire Valley grape varieties like Melon, Chenin Blanc, and Gamay were planted in the Willamette Valley decades before Frank moved there from New York in 2001. As a wine store buyer, he was always intrigued by the takes on these grapes by local winemakers.
Frank started Bow & Arrow in 2010. Today it is a winery located in Northeast Portland. They source their fruit from a small group of reliably outstanding farmers who were willing to take a risk grafting or planting the varieties needed, and to farm them in a way that was aligned with Frank’s beliefs. While there is no one “house style”, Bow & Arrow embrace a principle of drinkability and low intervention; a humble slogan that embodies the spirit of wine drinking that Bow & Arrow celebrate.
