Cono sur Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1993 with a vision of producing premium, expressive and innovative wines that convey the spirit of the new world. The company distinguishes itself by three main features: the creative use of technology, orientation towards quality, and respect for the environment. The Cono Sur name highlights the company’s geographic position and their pride in making wines in South America’s southern cone.
While focusing on making affordable wines, Cono Sur has not been afraid to invest in technology and innovation. In 2002, the winery starting using screwcaps for its aromatic wines in order to keep their wines fresh and free from oxidation.
It’s focus on quality starts with making sure that there is perfect alignment between the grapes and the terroir of the vineyard where they are grown. The grapes are monitored during the growing season with the goal of harvesting them at their peak. Fermentation and ageing are done with great care, including the selection of specific barrel types as needed.
Above all things, Cono Sur has always been committed to sustainability and responsible environmental practices. As such, they practice natural vineyard management as well as organic and carbon-neutral production, uncommon for an entry-level line.
